The Zazz Guide to Balloon Fiesta 2026

The 54th Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, straight from your neighbors down the road. Bookmark this. We keep it fresh every year.

Dates & sessions

Oct 3 to 11, 2026. Nine days, two full weekends.

Morning sessions run about 4:30 to 11 AM. Evening sessions run 3 to 9 PM, but skip Mon, Tue, Wed, and the final Sunday.

Oct 5 is New Mexico Day: free entry for NM residents with ID.

Tickets

General admission is $20 per person, per session. Kids 12 and under are free.

Park & Ride runs $18 to $30 with advance purchase and includes round-trip shuttle and entry.

Getting there

Balloon Fiesta Park sits in north Albuquerque, west of I-25, about 20 minutes from our front door.

Driving? Leave earlier than feels reasonable, or skip parking entirely with Park & Ride.

Hotel parking is limited and runs $25 per day during Fiesta season. Text us ahead to reserve a spot.

What to expect (and our insider tips)

  • Dawn Patrol launches in the dark to test the winds. Worth the alarm clock at least once.
  • Mass Ascension is the big one: 500+ balloons filling the sky through the morning.
  • Evening Balloon Glows light the field up like, well, us.
  • Special Shape Rodeo is when the bees, cows, and cartoon friends fly.
  • Dress in layers. October dawns are cold, afternoons are warm.
  • Go midweek for smaller crowds. Balloons launch at dawn, so your afternoons are wide open. May we suggest the spa?

The ABQ Box: A Balloonist’s Dream

Albuquerque’s famous “Box,” or varying altitudinal winds, allows balloonists to rise and land exactly where they started—a rare phenomenon found in only a few places on Earth.

It’s the perfect analogy for a place that has a way of pulling people back. Just like the little girl who grew up here, explored the world, and found her way home again.

How far is Hotel Zazz from Balloon Fiesta Park?

About a 20-minute drive. We’re on Route 66 in Nob Hill, so you get the festival by morning and Albuquerque’s buzziest food, art, and nightlife the rest of the day.

How much are Balloon Fiesta tickets?
